How to get to Kos

Kos is one of the easiest Greek islands to reach. It has direct flights from much of Europe in summer, a ferry from Athens every day, and boats to half the Dodecanese. Bodrum in Turkey is so close that you can see it from the harbour.

When you land

Good to know on arrival

  • Buses work here

Kos is flat, and KTEL buses link Kos Town with most resorts and villages. A car is only worth it for Zia and the far west.

  • Cycle in town

Kos Town has cycle lanes along the seafront, and bikes are easy to rent.

  • Book ahead in August

Ferries to the small islands fill up in August, so buy tickets a few days ahead.

Times and frequencies are typical for the summer season and change every year. Check the current timetable before you book.
