About Aegean Islands Guide
An independent guide for travellers who want to know an island's villages, food and history as well as its beaches.
Our approach
Rich stories, practical tips
Greek islands are often sold as interchangeable beaches. They are not. Crete has Bronze Age palaces and gorges cutting through 2,000 m mountains; Ikaria keeps night hours and all-night village festivals; Samos was home to Pythagoras and a tunnel dug through a mountain 2,500 years ago.
This guide tells those stories, then helps you turn them into a trip: where to base yourself, what to see in each town and village, where to eat, and where to stay.
Independent
We choose what to include on merit. No business can pay to be listed or to be described more favourably.
Island by island
Each island gets its own in-depth guide rather than a paragraph in a long list, starting with Crete, Ikaria, Samos & 12 more.
Kept up to date
Opening times and prices change. We review our listings regularly, and we always suggest confirming directly before you travel.
